Occupy Nigeria protesters registered their displeasure at the wastefulness of public funds in a recent meeting hosted by Nigeria's minister of State. New York Police was called to intervene and restore order. The police's sensitive handling of the situation was in stark contrast to the shooting of protesters in Nigeria.
According to Sahara Reporters, the meeting was held on January 18 (two days ago) at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, New York. Why was this meeting held in New York? What a waste of public funds as 70% of Nigerians live on less than two dollars a day.
Thanks to Prism for the heads up.

Thanks for the comment on my blog

LOL. Naijamum, that kind of force is fine abi? All is well. We thank God. Nice to see you back:)
DeleteAnother wasteful and unnecessary trip that serves no useful purpose other than to line up their already bulging pockets of greed. Next time she is looking to hold a town hall meeting I can point her to my village where the schools are a disgrace, no pipe-borne water, erratic power supply and all the decayed infrastructure that characterise every part of Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteYes oh! A town hall meeting is best suited to a village where the issues she wants to discuss actually concern the people there. New Yorkers are not Nigerians! Abi dem be Nigerians, my brother.
DeleteAhh Ah, dem be Nigerians na. Senior Nigerians na. being wined and dined in Grand Hyatt Hotel. Ready to accept rude treatment by their elected officials....after all who knows what post they may be given next (New York Committee on Occupy Nigeria etc etc) or the ever present brown bag shared after deliberations.
DeleteHi Ginger:)
DeleteFunny you should mention the ever present brown bag.
The brilliant article in the link below shows an example of what union officials earned for the part they played in 'quieting' Occupy Nigeria. Thirty pieces of silver comes to mind!
