Crazy Bargains...and a Burden that Should Make You Sick!

bur·den/ˈbərdn/

Noun:
A load, esp. a heavy one.

Some sad scenes on the news yesterday from Indiana, USA. People got trampled over in the rush for bargain sales in the stores. Apparently the Police had to be called to contain the madness. In another corner of the world, another kind of madness exploded. Did anyone bother to call the police? It is feasible that no one bothered to call the feckless Naija police aka Agberos in Uniform. Bombs exploded in Central and Northern Nigeria. Muslim Extremist Group Boko Haram is allegedly responsible. According to Vanguard News, President Goodluck Jonathan had this to say:  bombs are "a burden Nigerians have to bear until it fizzles out".

I had some pretty good bargains today. My shoulders are already heavy from the load so I refuse to carry Mr President's burden. I drank some wine instead and it is getting where it bl**dy should! So tell me: are you a burden carrier? Have you got the oshuka to carry Mr Goodluck's burden on your head?

Those words represent incompetence, insentivity and quite frankly an indication Mr President seems to be clueless about what to do. On hearing this, Boko Haram or whatever they call themselves will be gleefully rubbing their hands knowing fully well they will get away with more attrocities.

Anyway, I also went for some bargains today too. It was quite tiring to shop for myself and the whole family amidst the multitude of bargain hunters but it was worth it in the end. :)

  3. I really couldn't believe what I read re: president's statement on the bomb blast. To say that is shocking, unacceptable, irresponsible, ignorant, and disgusting would be putting it mildly. That's just ridiculous.

  4. Naija4Life: I'm just speechless. Talk about reassurance from a president. Clueless is it. Glad you got some bargains. The hassle is certainly worth it.

Ginger: Don't forget online shopping. No need to go out if you don't want to. Even more bargains there, I'm told. You would also get an idea of which shops offer the best bargains before you part with your cash, saving you loads of walking around. And you can visit as many shops as you like in your armchair. Though this is the warmest December ever:)

  5. Madame Sting: Many would agree with you. One would have thought a vote of no confidence would be doing its rounds in the Naija senate and house of reps by now. Bunch of losers!

Miss.fab: Yes, it is absolutely insensitive and ridiculous.

  7. Nigerians have "carried" different types of burdens for way too long and bombing them is certainly not a part of it! It is totally unacceptable that they should be asked to bear such a burden instead of assuring them of their safety!

  8. President Jonathan should not be speaking like this. The safety of his subjects (citizens) should be paramount to him than him saying "its a burden that Nigerians should bear". Such a statement is Not acceptable.

  9. @ilola: He already has one Ke, Reuben Abati, not so? I had no idea Reuben was destined for big tings o! I might have smiled at him more when we were at Uni, lol. Who knows...? I could have been the one giving him good advice for our president. I'm sure my UI friends are laughing their heads off reading this.

  10. Emeka: Exactly o, my brother.

NBD: GEJ's statement was totally naff. If Abati had a hand in it, I will flog him on your behalf when I see him;)
